A Few Good Questions*

Contact I.T with any other inquiries

1. How do I get into I.T.?
We hold workshops and auditions every fall, usually in september. Watch our Auditions page or look around campus for information on how to be I.T in 2010-2011!

2. Can I book I.T. for a show/workshop/hot date?
Of course you can! What good is an improv group you can't hire??? Contact any I.T. member or email improvtheatre@wm.edu for all hiring info. If we like you enough, you could wind up with a seriously hot date.

3. How many people are in I.T.?
We have no set number, although we are usually ten to thirteen strong. Currently we are holding strong at 12, having lost 4 seniors last year and gained 4 newbies this year!

4. How do you pick which games you play and who gets to play them?
Before each performance we set the show by writing down the games we feel like playing, and then take turns signing up for open slots.

5. Do you practice? Why? Aren't you an IMPROV group?
Like any good performing group, we practice regularly (at least three times a week plus shows and dinners). Yes, we are an improv group, so all of our scenes are spontaneously created, but improv is a skill that must be practiced (not "rehearsed").

6. What's with the barcode in the I.T. logo?
The founders of I.T. came up with a logo long ago at a time when the barcode was the latest and greatest in checkout technology. Originally, there was a barcode on the bottom of the letters I.T. However, the new logo is a bit more hip (no it's not) and truly embraces the barcode. In fact, if you were to scan the barcode in the logo, it would read on a computer as "improvisational theatre."

7. Can I bring my grandma to an I.T. show?
So long as your grandma enjoys PG-13 rated movies. I.T.'s rule is to keep our shows (relatively) clean, and play to the top of our audience's intelligence, so your grandmother will not be offended.

8. Aren't you supposed to be clever? Why isn't your name more clever/cleverer?
Well, yes, we try. But our name was created in 1986 when Improv on college campuses was not a well known form of entertainment. So to avoid confusion, we have an obvious name with some confusing initials (we can't fix your computer.) Furthermore, we think our name is appropriate because it clearly states that we make everything up on the spot. We like to avoid confusion with groups that interject sketch comedy into their improv.
